Clan Boyd

William George Heyu, 18 th Earl Erroll, in 1831, was granted the title Baron Boyd. Josslyn Victor Hay, 22 th Earl of Erroll, in 1941, died in Kenya. His daughter, Diana inherited the title of Countess of Errol, but the title of Baron Boyd would be transmitted only through the male line and, therefore, as early as 1928 turned to the brother of the late Earl, Gilbert, who has again taken Boyd's name and thus became the 6 th Baron Kilmarnock. Currently, the leader of the clan is his son, Alistair Boyd, 7 th Baron Kilmarnock.
